PFP

University of Kassel, Department of Production Organization and Factory Planning

The Department of Production Organization and Factory Planning primarily focuses on the use of innovative methods, models, and tools for planning factories. It addresses in particular model-aided planning of logistics and production processes within a company either at one location, at several locations, or beyond the sphere of the company itself. In this context, new concepts for distributed production and virtual companies play a role as do innovative IT infrastructures for planning and modelling manufacturing facilities based on digital interconnected models, like those currently emerging with the digital factory. Focusing on the use of modern simulation and visualization procedures, the department promotes practically oriented research on the topic of the Digital Factory to achieve a new level of quality of virtual engineering for factory planning as virtual reality is introduced.
